Sales of 19.6 million – profits okay, but short of projections. Secured a Weeke BP150 point-to-point CNC machine, and finalized the work cell layout. Made buying decision to purchase a CNC dowel inserter machine. Relocated all production employees to Plant one with cold press and other equipment. Realized immediate increase in throughput manufacturing and cost savings due to minimal plant transfers. Created customer service department to increase communications between sales and manufacturing, facilitate process planning, and schedule production.
1999
Record sales of $22 million and high profits were achieved through enhanced sales efforts, increased productivity with use of CNC work-cell and multiple shifts. Jim Markle retired after 34 years of service. Jim was a director of the company and a major stockholder. A stock redemption was executed to purchase his 44% ownership. Seven additional stockholders were brought in to make a total of 20. BSF received an award from industry peers at the Global Shop Show in Chicago for creative fixtures produced for Natures Fresh NW flagship store.
2000
Expanded plant 2, secured new industry accounts in 2000 to increase sales in 2001. Achieved a 3.3% net profit on $16.5 million of business.
